Human Rights, Gender Equality & Social Protection
Human right is one of the key issues which our society has come across from the beginning of human life. Violence against women, child labor, bonded labor, serfdom, early marriages, debt bondage have become burning issues in the context of human rights. These issues have put the social fabric of our life at stake.
The rights enshrined in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and subsequent human rights instruments covering group rights (e.g. indigenous peoples, minorities, people with disabilities) are equally essential for democracy as they ensure an equitable distribution of wealth, equality and equity in respect of access to civil and political rights. AMRDO is working to bring renaissance among the masses regarding the above issues and put awareness of coping the grim effects of the above issues.
AMRDO has conducted Human Rights awareness raising training sessions and advocacy and lobbying seminars at District Matiari with the support of Strengthening & Participatory Organizations (SPO) and DTCE-UNDP.
AMRDO has conducted training sessions on following topics

1. The standard of human rights in our society
2. The socio economic rights of woman
3. Child labor and standard of employment
4. Bonded labor and our social responsibilities

Al Mehran Rural Development Organization (AMRDO) in collaboration with DTCE- UNDP is conducting the training program in District Matiari to train the UC delegates & local council association to strengthen their capacity for understanding the local Govt system, its benefits for common people and the accessibility of common people to the power corridors.
Social Protection
Violation of human rights increased day by day after the heavy floods brought extensive damage to the physical infrastructure. The local community lost their important records and necessary documents such as CNIC, Nikah Nama, property documents and other legal credentials etc. Without the availability of such important credentials the communities could hardly reclaim land or obtain additional assistance such as agriculture loans for seeds, fertilizers and tractors.
In collaboration with the UNDP, the AMRDO initiated the Early Recovery Program on the awareness of social protection by creating advocacy and lobbying of rights and means for recovering of the lost documents. Under this program the awareness sessions were conducted within the affected communities to ascertain the importance and priority of credentials. 221 Sessions were conducted by AMRDO team in the 221 villages of Taluka Garhi Khairo district Jacobabad and Taluka Osta Muhammad district Jaffarabad Baluchistan through two UNDP supported Protection Centers established at Garhi Khairo and Osta Muhammad towns.
