Social Development |
The social mobilization is the process of bringing social awareness and developing the competence and compatibility of the society to make it possible for the communities to understand the issues concerning their life at the grass roots level.
AMRDO believes in integrated development of rural areas. There are more than five hundred villages where AMRDO’s Community Organizations (COs). The CO formation involves following specific process based on modern tools. As the rural areas have two distinct features of its settlements in a rural village system which is either based in form of group settlements consisting of parras/ werrhas in a combined and sequential settlement of households sharing common neighborhood or is based on farm based hamlets consisting a very smaller number of household. However; some of the villages have settlements with ample number of housing units to make the villagers to live in a group life with knitted social norms. Other kinds of villages have scattered settlements with more individualized life in their own farmlands.
AMRDO intends to improve and strengthen the quality of life of the targeted communities through development intervention of CPI schemes, service delivery in health and education, livelihood and enterprise development activities. The AMRDO programs have inclusive focus on the capacity building of local communities. The development of social infra structure portrays the more tangible form of civic development available in a society. Our rural areas are less developed in comparison with our cities and towns, this is also indicative of a deliberate ignorance. Lack of integrated development such as provision of electricity, level and quality of metalled roads, network of schools and hospitals speaks of the degrading system of development in our society.
The major functions of these COs are:
|
- To assist in supervision of the project/program activities.
- To take timely corrective measures during the implementation of a project.
- To mobilize the community about the sustainability of the project after its completion.
- To Assist AMRDO in implementing the flood related activities in their respective villages.
- Repair and maintenance of schemes and proper record keeping.

The formation of COs has provided a body of facilitators for AMRDO and community to identify the real issues and problems of the area at village level. COs map up all dire needs and issues of the area and prioritize the same to address during the implementation of a project with maximum possibilities. During the implementation of the project both the COs and AMRDO remain source of inspiration for each other. The COs consistently assist AMRDO from baseline surveys and onward to the completion of every.
COs keep the local communities informed regarding the development activities and level of work being implemented by AMRDO. AMRDO cannot with stand the level of cooperation by local Cos in implementing the projects. AMRDO has also enabled the COs as to how to tackle the emergency situations and manage the disasters. This project proved to make both the UNDP and AMRDO to be encouraging partners.
